Welcome to Our Daily Advent Devotional Guide
“Let us
walk in the light of the Lord,” Isaiah
2:5
Advent
is a season of preparation and expectant waiting to celebrate the Nativity of
Christ and ponder Christ’s promised return. Preparing and celebrating Advent is
not so much about all the trappings that accompany this time of year. It is
equally, if not more, about our prayer, reflection, and contemplation, readying
our hearts, souls, and minds to fully experience Advent, Christmas, and
Epiphany.
This
devotional guide is a tool to aid you in your preparation for this season
through the insightful and inspirational devotions written by members and
friends of our church family. The daily discipline of reading, reflecting, and
praying will enrich this Advent season for you and your family of faith. I
encourage you to prayerfully walk into and through this Advent with your eyes focused
and your heart, soul, and mind attuned to all that the Spirit of Christ is
illuminating.
In
John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever
follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”
I believe we all need to hear these words and allow the radiant light of Christ
to permeate our hearts and minds, experiencing the excitement created by God’s
activity in the world as we share this Advent. Yes, we are still dealing with
COVID and the many ways it has altered our lives. There is no way to minimize
the effects of the pandemic on our lives over the last two and ¾ years.
However, it has not diminished the hope and assurance through Christ our Lord.
We have that wonderful reality to hold and share.
What
do you hope to see in Advent this year?
Are you willing to walk in the light of the Lord and respond to what the light of the Lord reveals?
The opportunities of this Advent await, and I wonder what we will do with them.
