Southside Baptist Church has a long history of serving the community of Five Points. Taking the Biblical charge to serve in Christ's name, a few dedicated volunteers operate the Southside Clothes Closet, which seeks to aid in the assistance of those within the community who are in need of shoes, coats and other clothing items. Open Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 4:00 p.m., the clothes closet has been assisting those in need for nearly three decades. "This closet gives me a chance to help other people, like they helped me when I needed them," said Ms. Shirley Henderson. Embodying the spirit of many of the Southside faithful, Ms. Shirley answers the call to serve in Christ's name every week. The Southside Clothes Closet is just one of the many ways that the Southside family continues to play a vital role in the Five Points community.
